Privacy Policy
All information gathered will be strictly safeguarded and stored in a safe manner. We will limit the mandatory collection of consumer information to the minimum required to provide necessary services, which includes performing assessments of consumers’ financial situations, determining the factors which led to consumers’ financial problems, assistance in preparing a budget, providing budgeting tips, performing a complete debt analysis and informing clients of the various alternatives to their financial situation without incurring a negative amortization of debt.
Information collected by Hummingbird is treated as confidential, no personally identifiable information will be released to any unauthorized individual or to any company, creditor, collection agent, credit reporting agency or other non-governmental entity. Hummingbird reserves the right to collect non-individualized information regarding the use of its website and programs. Hummingbird further reserves the right to record telephone calls for employee training and for accreditation purposes. Hummingbird promises not to sell, rent, loan, lease or trade a consumer’s contact information or email address.
All Hummingbird employees are required to sign and abide by an agreement whereby they are required to keep all sensitive client information confidential. We will permit only authorized employees, who are trained in the proper handling of client information to have access to that information. Employees who violate our Privacy Policy will be subject to disciplinary procedures.
Impact on your credit report
Hummingbird does not report any information to any credit reporting agency or bureau; therefore the use of Hummingbird’s programs will have no impact on your credit report. During the course of a credit counseling session Hummingbird does provide information about alternatives based upon an individual’s financial situation. Some of these alternatives, specifically debt management plans and the filing of bankruptcy, will affect your credit report.
No Contract
Consumers are in no way entering into a financial contract with Hummingbird
and are not to make any contractual payments to Hummingbird.
Source of Funding
Hummingbird's source of funding is the fees it receives for Credit Counseling
certifications and Financial Education certifications needed for the purpose
of Bankruptcy cases. Hummingbird does not take or receive funding from
any creditor or lender.
Instructor qualifications
Hummingbird's primary financial education instructor is Victoria Wright, who is a bankruptcy attorney and certified housing counselor. She is certified by the American Board of Certification as a specialist in consumer bankruptcy law and spent 8 years helping thousands of clients in financial distress. The secondary financial education instructors on Hummingbird's video are Michael Paul, attorney, certified credit counselor and certified housing counselor, Cynthia Peacock, certified credit counselor, and Jeff Strayer, financial educator for the Eastern District of North Carolina's chapter 13 bankruptcy Trustees.
